First visit to an animal shelter - MIAR

yes, i got my blogging mojo back :)
in a good way I guess. just sad and angry at the same time.

went to the Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue shelter in Kajang today.
with Xue Wen, Samantha and Zhi Hau.
Well, basically what we did there wasn't much as they have already done most of the work.

I went there and they ask us to help clean the water bowls and refill it.
Then we played with the dogs as most of the things are already done.
The dogs were let out to play by batch as some of them will fight if they are let out together.
But they are really friendly towards humans, except for a few.
As their past still traumatize them. They only allow a few of the workers to go near them.
Here are a few photos of us playing with the dogs :)

giving some sort of massage to this dog :) He wouldn't walk apparently. He will whine when you make him walk :(

put this photo cause it's really funny! HAHA
We were trying to teach him to walk :)

the HUSKY that no longer looks like a husky :(

Meanwhile, one of the workers there, Mr.B (forgot his name) tell us about the stories of the dogs.
Stories will be tell at the bottom :P
Didnt manage to take the photo of all the dogs :( just a few :)

We went to have our lunch, and then we prepared the dog's lunch :D
Their menu is Rice with Chicken and some chicken stock.
We seperate the bones of the chicken which the worker gives out the rice.

the three puppies fighting for their share of lunch :)

Here are photos of the dogs :) All dogs there are all saved by the MIAR workers.
Most are abused until they are in a really bad condition.
And then they are slowly treated and all are slowly recovering :')

the puppies. another one I have no idea where he went de. HAHA

cutest thing :) makes me AWWW when he whines :(

Presenting Tan Sri. The dog who likes girls. HAHA

Slash :)

now for the dogs that I know little of their story :)

This is Angel :)

When she was found, she is paralyzed. She couldn't walk.
She dont even know how to urine on her own.
She likes people a lot. HEEHEE she will come over to you just for a stroke.
But the worker say as she is paralyze for quite some time, she dont know how to play with the others now.
anyway, back to the story,
after the found her, they took her to many vets which end up with the same answer.
which is to put to sleep.
The owner - Pusba on the other hand, believes that the dog can be healed.
Hence, she gave Angel continuous treatment so that she can walk.
One day, when there is no one around, only CCTV saw it.
She miraculously stood up and start walking :)

This is the WIRE DOG.

I dont know if that is his real name or not, but the reason he is called that name,
is because he has been chained by a wire for I dont know how long.
The wire was tied at his mouth, hence with the struggling, the wire tore through his jaw.
And he is quite a aggresive dog now. He barks at people who are whites.
When he growls, you wont get scared but heartache as you can see how the wire has torn through his jaw.
For those days with the wire, he have to eat with the wire near his throat. :(
Hopefully he will be able to overcome his fear of people soon.

There is another story of how the dog was rescued from a Bak Kut Teh stall,
that owner actually wanted to cook the dog!

There is also another case of a more aggresive dog, he barks a lot. And he only trust one of the workers.
His story? Well, his owner hit him with a cangkul, on the head, that the cangkul broke.
He remembers every single thing that happen, hence, his aggresiveness.

One of the dogs who have urine problem. He will not urine when he is in his cage.
He will only do his business when he is out of his cage.
He is saved from a drain after burried there for quite some time.
His bones are a bit dislocated but he's a darling :)

Listening to the stories of the dog's past,
of how MIAR people are trying their best to help these dogs where people treat them worse than trash.
I really am angry and sad of how people can be so cruel.
What did they dogs did to you that you have to treat them that way?
Where is your humanity? Dogs have feelings too.

Why do you think they say that dogs are men's best friend?

It's just heartbreaking. But i'm glad that workers at MIAR are really doglovers.
The dogs jumped up of joy when they see them approaching :)

I'll be back at the shelter when I have time :)
definitely visiting the dogs again :)
