Missing Throwbacks - Mon Sisters Take Seoul, Korea :)

I never did talk much about my Korea trip during my birthday, I can summarize it in one word, it's awesome :) Many thanks to my sister who made the trip happen, despite having fights on the destination, she took the effort to make my 21st birthday a memorable one that she even go through the trouble and get me a Ice Cream cake just to make it memorable. And you guys should know that ice cream cakes are not cheap. Looking away from the price, the cake is so pretty, much prettier than the ones we have in Malaysia. Here's a picture of the cake :D Only manage to snap it with the phone cause I didnt have the DSLR with me on that night, regret cause it'd be so much nicer when we took the group photo :)

My 21st birthday cake :)

me and the pretty birthday cake. All ice cream :D

People who helped celebrate my birthday. Believe it or not. I met them only a few hours before they decided to celebrate my birthday as well :D A bunch of really nice people, i'm blessed to meet them :)
Friends from Canada, Korea, Malaysia, Britain.

Now we shall go all the way back to Day 1. I'll just pick a few pictures that i've missed during my days in Korea :)

I MISS:

the view of the place where we board the Airport Express Train, so huge and grand :O

I had this almost everyday, BANANA Milk :D it's about 1500 won = about RM 4.80
I believe this is call Rabokki. Googled online to see what's good around our accommodation cause my sister and I had enough subway for the day, dragging the huge luggage with us down the stairs. And we realize we're staying really near Dobokki town which is just walking distance. Went into this shop which we can't read the shop name cause it's in Hangul. Luckily there is a Chinese working in the shop, so we manage to order although the menu are all in Hangul.

2 person portion is 11,000 won (about RM35)

ANDDDD, if you guys are fans of the Goguma Couple (Seohyun and Yonghwa), if i'm not mistaken, this is the shop that they came for their first date in the reality show, We Got Married. I even saw the shop that they bought their 2,000 won ring.

The next day, it's the official day that I finally turn 21 years old. Happy birthday to me! met up with my sister's friend who become our tour guide for the day :D It was easier as he reads Korean and me and my sister don't. It was easier to move around.

Something we realize, there is mirrors everywhere in the Subway station. And you'll be able to see every girls checking their makeup every second to see if there are any needs to touchup. They really do care about their looks. :) So we did what every tourist did, we took a mirror shot of ourselves :D

Took the subway to visit the palace with hope that we would be able to try out the Hanbok. I forgot what station that I got off to find the Cheongbokgung. It was a long long long walk around the whole palace as we also bought tickets to go into the Secret Garden. It's about 8000 won (RM25) per person.

Tried Makgeoli (Rice wine) for the first time as well HAHA Somehow it taste like beer, goes better with meats and all. HAHA the one we drank was ready made, so it just taste okay.

Even tried ice cream around the palace area. Was just plain vanilla ice cream with peanut crumbs, but it taste awesome :) The lady was so nice, when she found out that three of us were sharing one ice cream, she add more ice cream for us without any extra charges, thank you :)

Rented Hanbok's to wear after asking the directions from the Tourist Information Centre. :D Hanok Culture Village :) We even bought tickets up to the Namsam Tower as well as tickets to one of Korea's famous theatre show - Nanta :D

Say hello to the Mon Sisters :D

Went back to our accommodation to freshen up as my sister's friend, Andrew asked us to join his friends at Hongik University. As we had a small problem with the aircond during the first night, the host came and check on the room that day. She left us a note saying sorry and all, she even got us a Starbucks card which is loaded with 10,000 won (RM30), somehow she learnt that it's my birthday. Was super nice of her :)

Had the urge to drink some water, and there's another surprise awaiting me in the fridge, the host got me a slice of cake for my birthday! Surprise from someone I've never met! Am so recommending her to whoeever that is going to Korea, she's seriously a very nice host! :D

Just a small advertisement for this host: Ann's guesthouse
Found this unit through Airbnb, a very convenient platform for people who wants to travel to other country but do not want to stay in hotels. The unit I'm staying in is a new private unit, and the stuff prepared by the host is very complete. In the toilet, she prepared body wash, shampoo as well as toothpaste. There is also hairdryer available :D As for the kitchen, she had plates, cups and even pots prepared :D 3in1 packets if instant coffee is also available, what's even more cool? A coffee maker where coffee beans are also prepared :D
To conclude, everything is perfect. I did not mention the best part, she even prepared a portable WIFI device for us so I can stay connected to Facebook and Whatsapp! Best thing ever hahaha explains why I'm able to instagram during my trip :D

After changing into more comfortable clothes, took the subway to Hongik University, a place full of youngsters and guess what, the shops operates throughout the night. How I know? I stayed at that area till 5.30am the next day to wait for the first subway back. :D It's so happening, definitely something that I've never tried before.

Ate fried chicken and beer for dinner. The fried chicken is omg soooo tasty! And surprisingly it goes well with beer. Speaking of their beer, I've never seen beer served in such big jug. *photo steal from google* cause i forgot to take picture of it HAHA Met a bunch of new people and they know each other from a language exchange programme. Would definitely go visit that programme if I go back to Korea.

After dinner, there was a second round - the drinking session. That's when I meet more friends and I've never laugh and talk so much in one night. Was tiring cause was awake the whole night in the pub, mingle around the pub till it closed at around 4am, then we went to the streets. Surprisingly the street is still so happening, the shops still doing their business.

Live performance.
We-fie with the cool people who made my Korea trip enjoyable
Ash (the lady with pink bangs), Andrew, Nia and Ben :D
took this photo otw back to our own stations after a happening night :)

After a couple of hours sleep, head out again to shop at Ewha's Women's University. Got my backpack here, along with mask and handcreams for my friends as souveniers. I had my first try of Churros here too, they taste awesome with ice cream :D I miss having it :D

This chicken skewer is so not worth the price, the one I had in Hongik was so much nicer HAHA
After shopping, we had to head back to our accommodation to dropped off our bags so that we can watch our theater show :D NANTA is highly recommended to all, it's entertaining and really cool! The lady chef is soooooo hot, she's slim and has abs :D My next trip to Korea, I'm sure to watch the other theater show - something to do with on the spot paintings :D

Went to Hongik University area again cause sister wants to go to Forever 21 after the theater. Ate chicken skewers cause we're in a rush for the last subway. HAHA This chicken skewers are awesome (Y)

Since we're still hungry, sister went to buy fried chicken and some ramen back to our accommodation and we start cooking for our super late dinner/supper. The ramen taste good, and thank goodness our accommodation have cooking utensils provided. here's our super late meal :D and we called it a day.

The next day, is our last day in Korea :( Went to Gangnam just to have a look, all I can say is the streets look damn high class. And yes, it was raining :D

Then we had to utilized the NAMSAN tower ticket, so that was our next destination. I forgot what subway station it is but the tourist book they have in the airport was really helpful as they have the whole map printed as well as suggestion on places to visit. :D It was easy to understand too! Locked a lock of my family member's name at the tower :D Took polaroid photos too HEHE Had a mini photoshoot before we took the cable car up cause there is where the leaves are starting to turn orange :D

before going up to the ticketing counter. Nice city view :D

After all the sight-seeing at Namsan, we went to Myeongdong for dinner - BBQ! Met up with Andrew and Juri :) HAHA Juri taught us some korean phrase which is used to say thank you. I said Su-Gu-Ha-Se-Yo to the man who sold me socks, and he smiled. I dont know how to explain the phrase in English but it means something like 辛苦了 (you've worked hard). Don't know if it's wrong or not. Here's the picture of the BBQ we had that night, *saliva dripping*.

What's nicer than eating ice cream during the chilly night. Juri bought us to try Korea desserts :D On the left is almond, peanut powder and sweet rice cakes, and on the right is mixed berry yoghurt. Super duper nice, cause you can taste the ingredients in every spoonful cause in between the layers of ice, there is a layer of the ingredients.

After shopping around, time to say goodbye. Took picture with Juri and Andrew who took care of us a lot in Korea. :) Really nice friends made :D

Summarize the whole short getaway to Korea. and yes, I will definitely go and visit Korea again. Regret that I had to be back before the leaves turn orange :( Oh well, more excuse to go there again. I've yet to finish explore Korea hehehehe. I've yet to  try ordering the delivery jjangmyeon, I've not tried the deonjang  jiggae, I've yet to visit the mountains and many more.

back to my assignments and studies.

Thanks for reading :D

oh oh, what are the souvenirs that i bought? I took some of the photos although I didnt take all hehee.

  • Ginseng mask and eye mask from Etude House

Here's just a small recap of their happy faces :) So lucky to know them in uni :)

All the way back in July :)
It was an advanced birthday celebration for her as usual, as her birthday falls during study week.
She is my best listener and always there to catch me when I fall,
Her name is Vui Ting :)
This happen at end of July, when we happened to organize a trip to Redang during her birthday.
Went all the way to the other side of the island just to get her a birthday cake.
Say hello to the youngest of all, the 20-year old Xin Yu.
Although she tries to be mature, but she's still a small kid to all of us :)
Unfortunately, didnt manage to celebrate for her 21st birthday cause we were all having sem break.
But I bet you had an awesome one with your boyf right? at Lagoon hehe
Made you an album, hope you like it ;)
Meet the happy pill, where she is always ready to flash you that smile that will turn your frown upside down,
constantly ensuring you're okay and give you warm hugs, she is Evon :)
Happen just before the final sem starts, back in August.
Went all the way to Muar, with small food-stops at Malacca and met her friends.
Her birthday celebration was grand and full of people, the lady look like a bride herself!
Meet Choo Ling, who I call her Rapper Choo as she can talk all day long when she is happy,
we call each other sister and I can always count on her to spread the laughing virus.
Her name is Choo Ling.
Last but not least, the birthday girl that is exactly one month younger than me.
Yes, we share the same birthday DAY but only a month apart. And I had the same birthday as her best Bro.
not only that, we have the same chinese surname, and will always ask each other for breakfast.
Her name is Valerie.

Thank you girls for making my university life so interesting and memorable. Please keep in touch after degree ends.

The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil

FINALLY went to The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil after wanting to go there for so long, due to my obsession with Owls. Too cute to resist haha. Went there with my highschool BFF's who doesn't seem to mind driving all the way to Bukit Jalil just to have a chilling catchup and yumcha session. Too blessed to know them for this couple of years, back to the main topic, the cafe ♥

First of all, the atmosphere there is really nice, there's even a small cozy spot, if you're going in a small group.
i took the photo before they clean the table cause I was afraid other people will take up this cozy spot hehe
Their menu was rather simple as it's a cafe so there's cakes, waffles and all kinds of drinks.
I find the price for the food and beverages are quite reasonable.

the names they give to their waffles are so cute, Rebecca and David :D

Rose Latte RM10

Kids Menu - Chocolate Marshmallow RM7

Vanilla Latte RM10

Hot Chocolate RM10

Rebecca RM18
The Earl Grey ice cream on top is seriously unique but it's kinda sweet for me but also worth the try (Y)

After the crowd in the cafe gets lesser, it's time to walk around and take picture with the owls that can be seen all around the cafe, heaven to owl-lovers. Would be even greater if there is actually a live owl there WOOTS! just kidding.

this mural art is so pretty :D

Will definitely go back there for another chilling session. Nice atmosphere, nice service too where the waiters are very friendly and helpful :D Recommended :)

Great great great GREAT day spent with awesome peoples.
high school buddies :)

All girls :D

brought Vui Ting along to meet my highschool mates hehe. Hope you had fun :D

四大天王, lack of one in Aussie.
Got this nickname by our BM teacher during High School LOL
